About Brian

I've been on rope since I was less than 10 years of age and never fallen. My uncle is a professional spelunker aka caver. He had my cousins and I rappelling over cliff edges to get into cave entrances for fun. Then ascending back up rope to get out. So, I became very comfortable being on rope at a very young age.  In 1998 I started working for a local staging business as a Lighting Tech. They had several departments there 2 of which involved climbing which were Lighting and Rigging. So I became a Lighting Technician and picked up some more climbing experience there. Doing things like climbing up the lighting truss on a cable ladder and running spotlight for rock bands like...

Beastie Boys, NIN, Incubus, Eric Clapton, Page and Plant, etc.

Venues ranged from America West Arena, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Peoria Sports Complex etc. Also picked up some more climbing experience building Steel Scaffolding Stages for really big events like EdgeFest. Doing concerts was fun for around 3 years or so but eventually I wanted to do something else. I wanted to learn how to build websites and own my own business. I did that for about 6 years and after looking at code day after day I realized I had lost touch with the natural world. Also around that time (2008) someone came to the door to trim our palm tree. While I was watching him work, I thought it looked like it would be a lotta fun... especially doing the really tall palms or really big trees such as Eucalyptus. I realized I already had lots of the climbing skills needed and soon got some gear together and started branching out into the trees : )
